I'll be home for Christmas...

I love this place.  I'm thankful for the ways God has filed away some of my edges this semester.  I'm thankful for the assurance that He will continue to move - despite any darkness on our campus... on my floor... in my life.  I'm thankful for the blessing of true and faithful friendships.  I am even thankful for the terrifying moments in which I have faced the void deep inside who I am... and reconciled what I have found there with the Grace that fills it.

But I am ready to be far, far away from Tabor.... close to home and family and the places that first made me who I am.

A special birthday wish...

If you can get past the pitiful scene changes, low tech production, and ridiculous inside jokes, it's actually quite entertaining -- and very sincerely meant.

Remember, remember the 5th of November...

Lessons/Epiphanies (of the last several days):
  • I have a bad habit of running to people first - before running to God.
  • It's ok to cry.
  • It's probably not the best idea to take someone's "God told me..." as unquestioned truth.
  • The above point should have already been obvious.
  • The evidence of faith is obedience.  And obedience is the testing ground for trust.  When I am called to obey, it is God saying, "Come.  See that I AM faithful!"
  • "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will added to you." (Matthew 6:33)
  • "If God can accomplish His purposes in this world through a broken heart, then why not thank Him for breaking yours?"  ~ My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers
  • I need to remember Who I'm waiting for....

Snapshots...

Especially over the last few days, my heart has been nearly overwhelmed with various thoughts, feelings, and memories.  So this post (a long time coming) is a small reflection of life lately:

"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
~ Colossians 3:14

"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
~ Romans 12:1-2

"There is only one thing God wants of us, and that is our unconditional surrender."
~ My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers

"Another also said, 'I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.'  But Jesus said to him, 'No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.' "
~ Luke 9:61-62

"Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God."
~ Psalm 42:5

The road to Mt. Rushmore :) ...

On the eve of Fall Break, I find my heart joining in that ancient cry of all humanity:
